Becoming a member is easy — payment may be made either by mail or through PayPal

Membership is just $35 per year and supports

  • RIAGE web site and on-line forums
  • Coordination and hosting of regular meetings throughout the state for parents, educators, and children to network
  • Professional development for educators
  • Dual membership in NAGC (National Association for Gifted Children more...)
  • 5% discount to RIAGE and NAGC conferences
  • Granting of awards

RIAGE 2008 initiatives include

  • Identify options available for gifted students statewide
  • Field inquiries regarding meeting educational needs of gifted
  • Investigate ways to encourage training and certification for teachers in gifted education
  • Formulate a plan to lobby for legislation which will support educating gifted students
  • Keep the social and emotional aspects of gifted in the forefront
  • Encourage early identification of gifted and talented students
  • Educate about various educational options as a way to meet gifted students' needs
  • Increase awareness of Twice Exceptional Children: Gifted with Learning Disabilities
  • Offer professional development to teachers and parents regarding gifted/talented education
  • Participate in planning for annual NECGT (New England Conference on Gifted and Talented Education)
  • Host family events

Past RIAGE activities and initiatives have included

  • Hosted the 2006 NECGT Conference

    • Professional development workshop: "Meeting of the Minds", Susan Griggs and Jeanne Dawson, 2008
    • Speaker Dr. Wenda Sheard (attorney, teacher, and a founder of the Athens (Ohio) Association for Gifted Children
    • Speaker Dr. Ed Mara (Superintendent, Bristol School Department)
    • Speaker Dr. Deidre Lovecky, psychologist, (gifted/ADHD)
  • Support reinstatement of the State Advisory on Gifted Education
